Gina Huynh is a mom and teacher passionate about representation in kids books. Her journey into writing children’s books began with a desire for diverse representation in literature, ensuring every child can see themselves in the stories they read.
Author Bio
Gina Huynh was born and raised in the Bay Area of California. She has an MA in Education from San Jose State University and has been an elementary school teacher since 2015. She takes inspiration from the cultural diversity of her local community. She craves the fried bánh tét (rice and meat cakes) every Tết. Her passions include teaching, art, food, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones. This is her first picture book.
Book Description
The Huynh (pronounced “win”) family lives in California and prepares to celebrate the Vietnamese New Year, or Tết. The twins Minh and Kim can’t wait to see their grandparents when they visit. This year is extra special with a surprise. It becomes a win-win, or Huynh-Huynh situation that everyone enjoys.
Illustrator Bio
Sherwinmay Bustos is a 2D artist from the Bay Area of California. She attended San Jose State University for Animation and Illustration. A lot of her artistic inspiration comes from anime and Disney. She is a freelancer for storyboards, illustrations, films, and books. She is also a seller of stickers, charms, and art prints on Etsy. This is her first picture book.
